Maternal Outcomes Matter Showers (M.O.M.S. Tour)
The Maternal Outcomes Matter Showers (M.O.M.S. Tour) on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Greater Saint Paul Worship Center, 5116 Terrace Drive, Omaha, NE 68134, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm CST.
The M.O.M.S. Tour is a nationwide public awareness effort, organized and hosted by the U.S. DHHS Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships (The Partnership Center), making stops in select areas where maternal and infant mortality and morbidity rates are high. According to health data, Black women are three times and American Indian/Alaska Native women are two times more likely to die from pregnancy-, birth-, and postnatal-related causes than white women, and over 80% of those deaths are preventable.
The M.O.M.S. Tour aims to improve maternal health outcomes and is much more than just a baby shower, bringing together mental health professionals, birth workers, medical professionals, human services professionals, and community members to engage in meaningful discussions on maternal health disparities and to explore ways to increase available resources and support for women at risk. In addition to resources for Moms and babies, there are also dedicated resources for Dads and other children, including educational information, health-related services, mental health services, community engagement, opportunities to connect to doulas, nutritious food, and more!
