About the Webinar:

HPV (human papillomavirus) is known to cause many types of cancer in adults, with more than 37,000 people getting HPV-related cancers in the United States every year. The HPV vaccine can prevent more than 90% of six HPV cancers when given at the recommended age. HPV vaccination is cancer prevention, yet it continues to be underutilized despite the overwhelming evidence for its safety and effectiveness. Join us to hear from the National HPV Vaccination Roundtable and learn more about raising HPV vaccination rates and preventing HPV cancers.

Learning Objectives:

1) Discuss coverage and disparities of HPV vaccination from a national and local perspective.
2) Review current U.S. recommendations for HPV vaccination.
3) Identify opportunities for increasing HPV vaccination rates during back-to-school push.
4) Illustrate best practices for effect vaccine recommendations and how to educate parents about the HPV vaccine.

Speaker:

Christina Turpin is the Director for the American Cancer Society National HPV Vaccination Roundtable in the United States. Alongside the ACS HPV Vaccination Roundtable team, she leads nationwide efforts to raise HPV vaccination rates and prevent HPV cancers with the ultimate vision of ending vaccine-preventable HPV cancers as a public health problem. Christina has been with ACS for 14 years and started her career with ACS in Baltimore, Maryland before relocating home to Idaho. Prior to her current position, she focused on advancing priorities around cancer screening, HPV vaccination, quality of life, access to care, and health equity. Christina is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University. She resides in Boise, Idaho and enjoys spending time with her family out in the woods, on the lake, or cheering on Penn State Football.
