Summer Burn Injuries: Initial Patient Care Considerations for Pre-Hospital and Hospital Providers

Description:
This webinar will focus on common burn injuries seen during the summer months, burn injury prevention as well as the initial patient care management strategies which include total body surface area (TBSA) calculation, fluid management and burn wound dressing options. The American Burn Association Burn Center Referral Criteria will also be discussed.

Audience:
This webinar is intended for physicians, nurses, first responders, healthcare coalitions, emergency managers, federal and state partners along with other professionals throughout Region VII (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska).

Objectives:
• Identify burn injuries that are commonly seen with summer activities
• Discuss emergency care priorities for a patient with burn injuries
• List the American Burn Association Referral Criteria for burn injuries that should be referred to a burn center
