Description:
This webinar will explore the interconnectedness of health inequities and disasters. In addition to reviewing how disasters have exacerbated health disparities, we will examine how principles of health equity have been incorporated into disaster health planning and response efforts to date. Further, the speakers will provide tangible recommendations for public health and healthcare leaders on prioritizing and promoting equity amid disasters.

Audience:
This webinar is intended for physicians, nurses, first responders, healthcare coalitions, emergency managers, federal and state partners along with other professionals throughout Region VII (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska).

Objectives:
• Define health equity in the context of a public health emergency
• Identify specific examples of health inequities presented during the COVID-19 pandemic
• Articulate recommendations to support health equity efforts for preparedness and response for public health professionals and health care teams
